Difficult to choose the right floor for your terrace: natural stone, tiles, solid pine, composite boards ...? No more puzzles! Prices, strength, colors, finishes: Maison Française Magazine helps you choose the material that best suits your terrace project.

Choosing the floor of your terrace is a delicate choice: you want it resistant, durable and stylish. That's why Maison Française Magazine gives you the key facts to know before choosing your outdoor flooring.

1. A decking of solid wood

We avoid the exotic species for the terrace, difficult to trace and gradually abandoned by distributors (Lapeyre, for example). European woods are just as convincing and eco-friendly. We put on the douglas, of French origin, resistant, stable and rot-proof (from 20 euros per m² at Lapeyre, Leroy Merlin or Piveteau Bois). More expensive, with a nice caramel color, the heat-treated pine has been dried at a very high temperature to reinforce its hardness and durability (from 40 euros per m²).

2. A composite wood deck covering

Do not want a wooden terrace that greyness? This mixture of wood powder and plastic is for you. The blades do not have the brilliance of authentic wood, but come close with their textured finishes and their nuanced colorations. Take into account the wood content (between 40% and 70% in general): the lower it is, the less natural the blades will look; the higher it is, the more the blades can become deformed and intoxicated. It's all about dosage. Namely also: the year after installation, the blades fade slightly under the action of UV.

Porcelanosa

Reversible. Composite wood (60% wood + polyethylene), the blades "Ecostyledeck" sport a pretty beige rosé. They have a smooth face and a grooved face and exist in light gray and beige, 14.4 x 240 cm. 114 euros the m², Porcelanosa.

Lapeyre

Great length. The "Optima Plus" blades are 3 m (16.1 cm) and are made of composite wood (40% wood + PVC). Their relief imitates the veining of a parquet floor. To clip, also exist in gray. 69.90 euros the m², Lapeyre.

3. A natural stone terrace cladding

For lovers of authenticity, there is no better. Let's mention the Burgundy stone, of which there are 83 varieties, in shades of cream and honey (between 50 and 80 euros per m²). To be quiet, choose non-freezing slabs and anti-slip: their life is estimated at 150 years. Do you prefer anthracite tones? Opt for the blue stone of Hainaut, whose beautiful light gray matte can become deep black if polished. We have the choice between many finishes and formats, for prices ranging from 70 to 130 euros per m².

4. Reconstructed stone deck covering

Its strengths are its material effects, very realistic, and its touch, as soft as that of a natural stone. Two trends: the slabs of stone raw wood planks freshly sawn, with marked veins and knots ("Madria" at Marlux or "Verdon" at Carré d'arc), and patinated stone effects, where chips, punches, recessed reliefs punctuate the pavements. For a more contemporary look, we prefer the colors taupe or gray.

5. A porcelain stoneware terrace cladding

Random patterns, structured surfaces and discrete joints: outdoor tiles mimic natural stones, concrete or wood better and better. Slightly grained to be anti-slip, they remain easy to maintain. At Lapeyre, a special mention for slabs placed directly on the lawn or on a bed of sand or gravel. They are so heavy (17 kg) that there is no need for glue. Result, we create his own terrace in a few hours ("Berlingo" aspect stone, 60 x 60 cm, 6 colors, 19.50 euros each). This type of slab also exists at Leroy Merlin ("Siena", 54 euros per m²).

Castorama

Faded parquet way. In glazed porcelain stoneware, tiling "Tavolato" looks like a gray and hallmarked parquet. It is in the form of slabs of 30 x 60.4 cm. 14.90 euros per m², Castorama.

Pierra

Orsol
