The kitchen and the two bathrooms from this 20th century house did not have much to please. Etched, old-fashioned and sketchy, the three pieces of water have passed into the hands of Hortense Reynaud, DPLG architect for the PPil agency, who has transformed them. Thanks to tips, color schemes and to a custom furniture, the pro has managed to modernize the pieces without swearing with authenticity room.

Not happy to have transformed the old stairs that serve the two levels of this Parisian building, the architect Hortense Reynaud attacked in the kitchen and two bathrooms good. The last time the three rooms were renovated, it was more than 50 years ago ... many jobs were to be expected to bring the spaces up to date and new owners. The kitchen has gained space ... and modernity!

Before the architect DPLG Hortense Reynaud intervenes, the kitchen of this old house did not really want to go behind the stove ... Access was through a corridor in bias and not very engaging a wall separated the kitchen from the dining room, making the two spaces dark and narrow. To remedy all this, the pro did knock down the partition to put the two pieces back to the same level. now kitchen and dining room become one. A feeling reinforced by the creation of a tiled concrete bar ceramic sandstonee that extends into the dining area to create a user-friendly table. The element unfolds like a ribbon from one room to another in the manner of a podium and illuminates the decor by the light colors of its marbled effect. This impressive table has been linked by a pair of brass and walnut, a nod to the new dark parquet floor of the dining room and the low furniture of the kitchen.

A brass towel rail runs along the wooden furniture and serves as a transition with the high furniture repainted in a turquoise blue. A metal canopy and reinforced glass, whose structure recalls the tones of the credenza in black granite, overcomes the elements in height to give them more relief.

On the kitchen floor, the old floor tiles have been replaced by imitation porcelain stoneware who come to meet the floor of the dining area and mark the old separation of the two rooms. The walls have been covered with Farrow & Ball's Off-white and Slipper Satin shades. "I wanted this space to be modern while retaining an old backdrop. The openness, the conviviality of the table and the colors chosen are contemporary. But the materials used echo the year of construction of the building, "said Hortense Reynaud.A bold renovation to Art deco influences !

Both bathrooms are full of style

Before renovation, the space where the parental bathroom is today was occupied by two toilets. By reworking the stage and removing the cabinets, the pro has managed to recover a lot of space to create a bathroom adjoining the owners' bedroom. The traces of the old partitions have been camouflaged thanks to the creation of a partial wall that separates the shower from the bathtub. On the floor and on many sections of wall, mosaic of white glass sports black patterns recalling the shade Farrow & Ball present on the wall of the vanity unit.

Above the triptych of mirrors, a luminous strip illuminates the elongated sink and completes the lighting provided by the square spots. To close the space, a door made on the model of an old element slides along a rail and allows to lose no place.

The children's bathroom has been more soberly renovated in a mid-vintage mid-industrial style spiced with colorful touches. Behind a bluish partial wall, the shower was covered with glazed terracotta subway tile. On the other side of the partition, a masonry bench allows children to sit while they are being washed. Two basins (masalledebain.com) overhang a worktop in chipboard oak.

A barber's mirror and a pineapple-shaped model complete the look of the bathroom and give it a unique look.
