Where does star chef Anne-Sophie Pic live?

Michael Roulier

Direction Valence, at Pic, the emblematic establishment inherited from his father and grandfather. On the occasion of a double news, a cookbook "Elements of Culinary Conversation" and the launch of a concept of gastronomy at home, ChefCuisine, Anne-Sophie Pic revealed to us its interior Drôme. Interview.

It is in the Drôme in Valence that Anne-Sophie Pic took over the family torch and offers one of the most beautiful kitchens in France. Designated best cook of the world in 2011, she is the only woman three stars of France. When she is not in one of her restaurants - she also runs the Dame de Pic in Paris (1 star) and the kitchens of the Beau Rivage Palace in Lausanne (2 stars) - she enjoys her house and her vegetable garden, where she loves to cook for her family and give herself an "enchanted parenthesis" with her son Nathan. Private visit of a woman of taste, all in delicacy.

Your favorite room where you like to be and spend time?

Anne-Sophie Pic: You answer the kitchen would be a little agreed ... it is however the place in which I feel good. I prepare dinner every day, and cook with my son. The family evening meal is a moment of sharing around the pleasure of eating well. It is essential and a delightful interlude, before I join my restaurant for service.

Your furniture: rather modern, ultra design, family, pitcher?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Why choose ? I like eclecticism. So I have some modern pieces that rub shoulders with more vintage pieces.

The most unusual or unexpected that can be discovered at home?

Anne-Sophie Pic: The brick wall of my hall, discovered during the work of my house and I like the raw look.

An object or piece of furniture that you could not separate?

Anne-Sophie Pic: The little Hermes notebooks in which I write down all my ideas. I have all the colors and I never part.

Your favorite color in your home?

Anne-Sophie Pic: A very soft powdery pink wall that I find very soothing and that dresses my living room!

Your last purchase - useful or futile! - for the House ?

Anne-Sophie Pic: A kettle with digital temperature display because I am a big consumer of Japanese green tea.

The kitchen, rather open or closed?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Open of course! the kitchen is a place of sharing and conviviality. I like to be with my family and my friends when I cook for them.

A dish unexpectedly on the go for your friends? Your specialty?

Anne-Sophie Pic: The chicken with tarragon of my mother which is for me synonymous with Sunday meal, conviviality, sharing, pleasure and greed. It's simple but so aromatic! The pilaf rice I make from my mother-in-law's recipe, which is Nathan's favorite dish.

And the TV, which room?

Anne-Sophie Pic: In the living room.

Do you live with music or rather in silence?

Anne-Sophie Pic: I like silence. I find that it is not at all synonymous with emptiness, but on the contrary that it can have a certain thickness. But I have a playlist for my train trips, which allows me to isolate myself and work.

Rather candle or rather perfume of atmosphere?

Anne-Sophie Pic : Pretty candle.

Curtains, doors, shutters? What does it inspire you?

Anne-Sophie Pic : I like open spaces and through lights. At home, there are few doors, the shutters are never closed. Only the curtains come to create a game of shadows and lights.

What is on your bedside table?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Saro oil, books. Right now, I'm reading Cosmos by Michel Onfray. And I dream with the Pedestrian Rome of Dominique Fernandez.

A deco trick or storage?

Anne-Sophie Pic : Put in my bouquets of flowers aromatic plants from my garden.

Do you dream of one more room? If so, for what purpose?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Not really. Rather than space, I dream of time and strolls.

Rather orderly or messy?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Rather ... distracted! I'm a dreamer. I need to let my mind escape from time to time. But to answer your question more seriously, my job requires a lot of method and rigor. I am so very orderly.

Are you green plants, flowers, balcony, terrace, garden?

Anne-Sophie Pic: Yes, I'm lucky to live in a house with a garden ... in which I created a kitchen garden because I love this relationship to the land. I come from a peasant family, and I wanted Nathan, my son, to see the vegetables grow. It also implies a relationship to the time and seasonality that punctuate our lives.

Your addresses or favorite brands for the home (shopping, decoration, florist, etc.)?

Anne-Sophie Pic: I really like fabrics and cushions. Brands like Lelièvre, Lesage.
