Aluminum & Architecture
80 000 verandas are built each year in France and 95% of them are made of aluminum. A figure that confirms the attractiveness of the French for this type of construction. No less than 94% of the people interviewed by Aluminum & Architecture in an unpublished study believe that the veranda fully meets their expectations while 90% are satisfied with its installation. In our mind, the aluminum veranda is synonymous with space, light and relaxation. A luxury that you can afford, without moving from home!
1 / Have an extra room
On average, the size of a veranda reaches 20 m². A substantial surface, especially since it is often integrated into a small house. Depending on whether you open it on your dining room, your living room or your kitchen, these functions may evolve. Lounge to drink tea and have an aperitif, dining room, office or workshop of creative hobbies or painting for the most artists of you ... There are as many functions for a veranda as there are modes of life ! Far from the image of the canopy or the simple winter garden, the veranda has become a real living space, used daily during the mid-season and summer by more than 80% of those surveyed, as against 50% Winter. Finally, thanks to the progress made in terms of thermal comfort, the veranda can be used both in summer and winter (improvement of insulation, preservation of heat and natural light, new solar protection solutions).
2 / To bring the light in its interior
If your house is naturally dark, even depressing during the winter, the aluminum veranda will be an important ally! It must be said that the light remains the main reason that motivates individuals to opt for a veranda rather than for a traditional extension (wall cinderblock, brick ...) or a development of attic. Thanks to this one, it has a single stroke of an incredible opening on the outside (especially as the rectangular shape with three glazed sides is the most widespread). The veranda brilliantly combines the comfort inside and the opening on the outside ... Do not neglect this solution, especially if you have a beautiful garden or a nice view!
However, whether it is to gain comfort, space or light, a veranda is a complex construction whose project must be carefully thought out and prepared. Thus, before taking the plunge, individuals make an average of two quotes and more than half of them inquire by visiting exhibitions (62%). Moreover, it is the performance and quality that take precedence over the financial aspect.
3 / Restore character to your home
Have you already done some renovations and want to add more character to your home? A well-chosen veranda will breathe new life into the exterior of your home. This one can bring him modernity or on the contrary, affirm its traditional character. In addition, know that thanks to the technique of powder coating, aluminum offers a wide choice of colors, which allows to integrate the veranda in all architectural styles. The most common colors are beige / cream (28% of verandas), white (20%) or even tones aluminum / silver / anodized / gray (19%) ... In recent years, it is also possible to compose a veranda with a flat roof, a choice that will (re) give a contemporary side. If you plan to resell your property soon, know that this veranda will certainly allow you to achieve a better real estate operation or at least sell it faster (average budget of a veranda: 24 000 €).
4 / Save on your heating bill
According to a study conducted in 2014 by the SNFA (professional organization representative of the designers, manufacturers and installers of exterior joinery in aluminum profiles), the addition of a veranda makes it possible to reduce the heating needs of the house (and this, that the veranda aluminum is heated or not). It must be said that manufacturers have made significant technical progress to improve the level of comfort and make this space a living space in its own right.
In this study, it is clear that the more sunny the region, the higher the gains (up to 28% energy savings in the hottest climate zone, the south-east of France).
