Which floor in which room of the house?
Before cracking for a design or an easy-care product, it is important to take into account the room of the house in which the floor will be laid as explained Mathieu Hingrez, head of soil group at Saint Maclou: "The destination of the soil is important because the technical constraints are not going to be the same. For example, in a bathroom, it is better to opt for a tile or a vinyl than for a parquet because of splashing water. In an entrance or corridor, taking into account the passage, it will also be necessary to choose particularly resistant grounds. "In the kitchen too, the resistance is necessary because of the numerous trampling or the risks of falling objects. To judge the resistance of a soil, trust UPEC classification, U for wear, P for punching, E for water, C for chemistry (CTSB standard). In the case of the kitchen, the tiles should be classified U3. "Apart from these particular technical constraints, the customer will privilege theaesthetic appearance of the floor chosen, adds Alexandre Poitevin, head of tiling market at Point P. We are thus witnessing a real craze for wood-effect floors with parquet of course but also all soils that imitate the wood effect. "

Wood flooring: a timeless inimitable seal ...
Although it is one of the most expensive materials, wooden floor, noble and warm material, keeps its unconditional ones. "It gives character to the house and is ideal for a living room or bedroom, says Mathieu Hingrez. Each blade is unique, with or without knots ... The possibilities are immense. "On the supply side, you will have the choice between solid parquet (consisting of a single species of wood) and engineered parquet (solid facing and lower part often birch-based). No real difference in quality for the purists, provided you choose the parquet flooring, alert Bruno Casteran, Flooring Market Manager at Point P: "One of the quality criteria of a parquet is the thickness the siding, which will range from 2.5 mm to 4.5 mm for high-quality laminate flooring and 14 mm to 20 mm for the best quality in solid. Thanks to its different thicknesses, the laminated parquet will be less subject to these hazards. , we also recommend a pose glued in full. " Attention also, the parquet requires a minimum of maintenance: varnish, it will be repainted every 3 or 4 years and apply a new coat of varnish. Oiled (more trendy), it should also be oiled every 2 or 3 years so that the wood does not clog. Finally, among the key trends, note the development of single-planks, extra large (up to 22 cm) and the fashion of the aged parquet with the raw appearance.

When imitating wood, laminate 12 mm thick is a good alternative to laminate flooring especially since it is maintenance free and good value for money. Resistant and easy to maintain, the floor tile is suitable for all rooms in the house. And on the look side, it has nothing to envy to other materials, for Alexandre Poitevin: "As with laminate, for two years, technologies have greatly improved, with inkjet printers that print between 25 and 30 tampons on the same tile. it can take the appearance of stone or wood with a striking realism. He is reproached for being cold? As a result, at Point P, we are launching a new polished tile, which has undergone a specific treatment to make it matte and ultra-soft. "

There is also a pronounced trend for marble aspects. "Imitation or real cement tiles are also really on the upswing," says Mathieu Hingrez, "imitation porcelain stoneware is very well made and goes very well with parquet. to them handcrafted, we are currently working at Saint Maclou to propose our own ranges next year. "
For quality tiles, choose porcelain stoneware (80% of the market), colored in the mass, it resists shocks and does not change color. To judge its resistance, always rely on the CSTB UPEC standard: in a kitchen, its resistance must be at least U3, in a room, U2 may be enough.

"Among their assets, the fact that the slats / slabs to clip do not resonate at all, hence a real comfort phonic and a small thickness (4 to 5 mm) which makes them perfect in renovation. They can be placed directly on the old floor provided that it is perfectly smooth or repaired otherwise you may see reappear the specter of the old tiles.
