To protect the wooden facade of your home against the onslaught of weather, weather and insects, some precautions are needed ... We give you some tips to treat and revive your wooden cladding!

Wood cladding must be regularly maintained to maintain its aesthetic and mechanical characteristics, even if it is naturally resistant and compatible with outdoor use or if it has benefited from preservation treatment (by autoclave, oleothermy, retification). A little attention, regular maintenance will allow him to stand in time and resist all aggression. Two to three passes of specific products will suffice to protect the wood for a decade. There are two types of treatments: those that help the wood to parry the attacks and those whose role is rather aesthetic.

Treat your wood siding well to make it stronger

To avoid various assaults and fight against moisture, treating the wood is a necessary precaution. Thus a fungicide should be applied to control fungi. A water-repellent product will be used against moisture and will help to fight cracking, while an insecticide will help the wood to fight against termites and other larvae of capricorn, vrillettes ... There are products on the market for each of these issues. But, more and more, manufacturers are offering combined treatments that are easier to use since they solve all these problems with one product. If these treatments act on a healthy wood in prevention (to apply before laying the cladding), they are also valid, in healing, for an attacked wood. On a new wood, it will be enough to pass a cloth to avoid the dust. On old wood, sanding or stripping allows the material to be exposed. Two to three layers are usually necessary for the wood to penetrate well in depth.

Embellish and revive an old wood

Over time, even a protected wood can be degraded: dirt, stains, gray matter or the color that passes. Some products will be enough to restore its beauty of yesteryear. To protect your wood from UV or weather, and bring them a nice finish, use a saturator. Its other advantage is to limit the graying, a natural evolution over time. If you do not support this phenomenon, it is possible to pass on your cladding a degritter that clears the blackened woods, revives the hue and removes stains as well as rust. For their part, the stains protect the cladding against the effects of UV and weathering by an invisible layer, while allowing it to breathe thanks to their water-repellent properties. In the same spirit, we can also use the paintings that decorate the exterior woods by offering them a protective layer. Finally, know that these products, developed without solvents and with components of natural origin, are today more respectful of the environment ...
