The cooking plan in I (online)

In which case to adopt this plan? This type of kitchen plan in I is suitable for so-called "corridor" kitchens, both long and narrow. Note that for a certain ease in the kitchen, it takes a minimum of 1m80 in width (about 60-70 cm for the worktop and 90 cm for opening the drawers and doors of the appliance, and up to 1m20 to cross two). "This type of I plan is ideal for open kitchens and small spaces, says Charlotte Soissons, architect. The inconvenients ? The triangle of activity is not respected with the different points of activity in a row. And it can not be, even by competing for tricks and solutions. This is one of the constraints of a kitchen layout in I. And it is not the only one. With this type of plan, the corridor effect is accented in closed configuration. Charlotte Soissons recommends playing with visual effects: colored bands, two glass doors out of five, a little stainless steel ... Another disadvantage: if the kitchen is open, the appliance is visible from the stay. Xavier de Saint Jean also notes that with this type of arrangement, the surface of the work plan for the food preparation is quite small because interspersed by the sink, the kitchen table or the coffee machine.

The kitchen plan in parallel (face to face)

In which case ? This type of kitchen plan in parallel is suitable for closed kitchens from 10 to 15 m2, equipped with two walls convertible face to face with a door and a window at the end. The minimum width between the two linear must be 1m20. Xavier de Saint Jean advocates in the case of a kitchen face to face to open the space partially at mid-height to give style, brightness and perspective, especially in installing a canopy type workshop or a glass wall.

The inconvenients ? With a U-shaped kitchen plan, the major drawback is the arrangement of the corners with adequate furniture (prefer the swivel storage and not the shelves). The complete layout of the kitchen is directed according to the angles. All the high elements are installed at the end so as not to break the worktop.

The kitchen plan in L

In which case ? This is the type of kitchen plan The most common, perfectly suitable for medium kitchens (10-15m2) to large (beyond 15m2). The advantages of the kitchen plan in L? The triangle of activity combines the three essential functions - cooking (hotplates, oven, microwave), washing (sink, dishwasher) and storing (refrigerator, freezer) - is perfectly respected with this kitchen plan in L Movement from one area to another is limited, with the most accessibility possible. This type of arrangement also allows to have a substantial worktop surface, perfectly adaptable with standard furniture. Bonus: when space allows you, both in open and closed configuration, a dining table is easy to install.

The inconvenients ? There are no major disadvantages. However, for good circulation, do not put the sink and the hob in the corner.

The kitchen plan with island

The advantages of the kitchen with island? A kitchen plan with island allowsincrease the worktop and storage surface. The inconvenients ? The installation of an open kitchen with island can generate technical difficulties, with the connection of plumbing and electricity. In the case of an island with sink, it is for example necessary to break the floor or raise it to bring water. Of course, the installation of an island with only storage does not cause this inconvenience. If you are installing an island with hotplates, you must also provide for the electrical connection, a hood to hang from the ceiling or retractable, to avoid the inconvenience of kitchen odors. A budget work more consequent is to be expected in the case of a kitchen island. Charlotte Soissons notes another disadvantage: "The island coupled with a meal table freezes the space. The set represents a massive volume and therefore important. It is therefore better to choose a table more modular than an island. "

The kitchen plan in G

In which case ? This kitchen plan in G suitable for open kitchens. It is an extension of a U-shaped kitchen, with either a bar return (higher than the work plan, 1m10-1m20), an extension of the work plan (work space or dining area).

The advantages of the kitchen plan in G? Like the island, this kitchen in G is friendly with an opening on the living room. It also offers a beautiful impression of space.

The inconvenients ? In the case of an open kitchen in G, the smells of burning or a cooked fish can quickly become unpleasant. It is therefore better toinvest in a powerful hood. The noise of home appliances can also be a disadvantage in the case of a kitchen open to the living room. The best solution ? Opt for a silent range. Finally the last negative point of an open kitchen in G is the mess to wear in the living room. It is then possible to play on a bar higher for a visual break and thus, hide the clutter.
