Successful renovation for this 26 m2 studio
We are heading to the 9th district of Paris, where the interior designer Aurore Pannier has renovated a studio of 26 m2 located in a former art deco palace, now converted into a private residence. The renovation was complicated, but the style that emerges from the apartment is incredible.
In this former art deco palace of the 9th arrondissement of Paris is a real gem: an apartment of 26 m2 decorated in the 1930s, in which was integrated an inner canopy indus' spirit. This remarkable work is signed by Aurore Pannier, architect and interior designer. The latter had to face certain technical constraints: do not touch the load-bearing walls that are in the middle of the studio, and adapt the space for short-term rentals ... Aurore Pannier has therefore dug her head to achieve a renovation with small onions. Discovery of places in pictures.
The project of the renovation of the studio of 26 m2
The idea : adapt the apartment for short term rentals, having a maximum of beds and functional spaces. Create a room in the future configuration of the apartment. Decorate the pieces in a Parisian style, so that the studio seduces customers at first glance. And recover 2 m2 of space behind the kitchen to enlarge.
Area : 26 m2.
Situation : apartment located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, inside a former Art Deco palace.
Cost of the work : 42 000 euros all inclusive.
Works duration : 2 months.
Blow of heart for the glass roof of the Parisian apartment
The owners wanted a room to be created in the apartment, Aurore Pannier has fulfilled their wishes in the most beautiful way! An industrial-style canopy now sits next to the living room. For the interior designer, it was a question of separating the room without partitioning the room, in order to keep a maximum of light. The canopy offers a cocooning spirit to the room and gives a certain character to the apartment. In addition, with this trick, we move from a one-room studio, to a small 2 pieces at the top.
Knowing that the apartment is intended for tourists, they will not spend much time in the room. Aurore Pannier has therefore proposed a functional and comfortable room. To maximize space, the interior designer did not install a cabinet inside the canopy. A small closet is in the hallway with the necessary storage for a few days. We really like the La Redoute copper pendants, which bring a retro touch and echo the industrial spirit of the glass roof. There is also a desire to create a subdued atmosphere in the space.

The living room of the apartment exudes Art Deco
Housed in a former art deco palace, the style was obvious. Posters, furniture, light ... Absolutely everything in the living room refers to the Art Deco style. Aurore Pannier decorated the living room with stylish and functional furniture from La Redoute. There is a convertible sofa to get 2 extra beds, a coffee table imitation walnut style 30, a sand-colored carpet that goes perfectly with the parquet added during the renovation.
The Ikea luminaires still offer this cozy atmosphere that was found in the room. The mustard yellow armchair soberly brings color to the interior, as do the green almond cushions on the sofa. Aurore wanted to push the Art Deco spirit to the end by hanging posters of Mucha and Georges Barbier, two illustrators who worked during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period. We also find mustard yellow and almond green in the illustrations.

Enlarging the kitchen of the apartment and creating a dining room
The studio kitchen contains everything you need to cook, warm up food and have breakfast. The almond green of the kitchen was chosen after Aurore Pannier and the owners fell in love with this Art Deco style tile from the Stile's Showroom located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
We do not really understand where the old owners came from, but a wall was losing 2 m2 to the kitchen ... Not to mention that access to the windows was blocked by this wall, and did not let the light.
At the request of the owners, Aurore Pannier has very well recovered the 2 m2 of the kitchen, offering space for a small dining area for 4 people. The edge of the dining room has been lengthened to create storage and install cushions at the edge of the window, to provide a cozy corner as is often done in the Nordic countries. Finally, the brightness is back thanks to the recovery of access to the windows.

A bathroom restructured with the indus' spirit
1.9 m2 is the surface of this bathroom ... The interior designer was up to the challenge. Surrounded by load-bearing walls, the bathroom could not be enlarged, hence the difficulty for Aurore Pannier to create a pleasant bathroom. First, the door was replaced by a pocket door.
The washbasin and the shower were built and made to measure because the lack of space prevented the purchase of a piece of furniture of the trade. The shower has also been enlarged for maximum comfort. The tiling of the floor and the shower still comes from the Stile's showroom, which Aurore Pannier is particularly fond of.
For decoration, Aurore Pannier was inspired by the industrial style to find the spirit of the canopy in the room. The black and white brings the necessary chic touch to the room. A decorative mirror with iron uprights and Ikea luminaires were installed to give a retro spirit and workshop to the bathroom. The interior designer advises black and white for a chic and design aspect when the budget dedicated to the renovation is not colossal.
