Isolate, ventilate, heat. Here are the three key words of a comfortable home to live. Leroy Merlin explains how to proceed and get the best profitability.
Want to reduce your energy consumption by 75% and live in a healthy and pleasant home? For this, it is impossible to ignore three elements: insulation, ventilation and heating. A successful thermal renovation is a global project!
So where to start ?
Before you start ...
An energy performance diagnostic can target the most profitable jobs and evaluate their return on investment. The Leroy Merlin Energy Diagnostics, offers you the first leads by making a review of your home and the various improvements to consider through the free diagnostic tool
First step: insulation
The heat rises, so first isolate the roof so as not to lose it. The preferred option for maintaining maximum heat is outdoor insulation. A choice highly recommended during construction but which is more complex during a renovation because it requires to deposit the cover. Unless you redo the entire roof, it is therefore simpler, although a little less effective, to isolate from the inside. It's up to you to choose the most suitable technique for your home! You will see your bills drop by 30%. Then comes the insulation of walls and floors. The first let the steps out in the winter. A barrier, external or internal depending on the housing, is necessary and can save 25%. As for the floor of the ground floor, it is noticeably colder when the rest is isolated. Today mandatory in the new, its insulation remains difficult in case of renovation. But nothing is impossible with Leroy Merlin ... How long to amortize the work? Per project, it takes from 15,000 to 25,000 euros. Depending on their size, 2 to 12 years will be necessary to make them profitable.
Second step: ventilation
Need a change of scenery ? Leroy Merlin helps you assess the indoor air quality of your home with his online quiz. You will find the best solution for your needs.
Whether it's your home, your health or your wallet, mechanical ventilation offers only benefits. Stale indoor air is indeed more dangerous to health than outdoor pollution. It is therefore essential to equip ourselves to renew the air in its habitat. And for this, there are solutions for all homes: aerators, VMC simple self-adjusting flow (perfect to replace an old VMC), VMC single humidity flow (ideal for new and renovation), or VMC dual flow ( recommended solution in nine). Note that 12 to 25% savings are made possible by installing or changing a VMC.
Third step: heating
Programming is the most cost-effective way to save energy and is suitable for both electric and central heating. It allows to maintain an ideal temperature in every room, at any time, thanks to the programmer or the thermostat. And this, whatever the outside temperature, realizing up to 25% savings per year.
Changing your heating is also a good idea. On the central heating side, the top is the condensing boiler. As for electric heating, old convectors nowadays leave place to the latest technologies comfortable and economic.
