Megève, the most exclusive ski resort is a must in the winter with its cozy hotels, chalets, starred tables and carriages crunching in the snow. A grandiose panorama and a unique way of life, between powdery fashion and architecture signed Henry Jacques The Same.

"In Megève, we have the same customers as in Courchevel, but instead of flowing with champagne, we drink it!" Another joke for novices who add accents that are not needed: "Megève is pronounced like Geneva." You will understand, the place deserves and does not offer the first comer! But is not it for the best? Since its beginnings in 1919, the Rothschild ski resort has had iconic references. Françoise Sagan at the Altiport, Gérard Philippe being offered gloves by a young blushing woman ... the black and white photos that adorn the Hôtel Mont-Blanc are eloquent. And we dine at Les Enfants Terribles under a fresco signed Jean Cocteau! It is in this establishment that in 1959 Roger Vadim realized Les Liaisons dangereuses with Jeanne Moreau; in 2012, a very beautiful chalet in the Domaine du Mont d'Arbois hosted the shooting of Claude Lelouch's Salaud on t'aime, with Johnny Halliday and Sandrine Bonnaire.

At the cable car of Rochebrune, the first of France, created in 1933 to accede, according to the slogan "To magnificent fields of ski", the look of Sacha Distel crossed that of a young ski champion, his future wife. The red bucket is still displayed at the entrance of the village to remind you that this is where the history of skiing was written, and gondolas decorated with portraits of the champions-houses cultivate the pride of the village. It is also at the request of Emile Allais, famous figure of alpine skiing, that the Aallard imagined an aerodynamic spindle that will quickly leave the locker room to sign the perfect silhouette of chic Mégevannes.

In Megève, purified volumetry and reinforced concrete

But it is certainly in the field of the art of living that the station is out of competition. The visionary architect Henry Jacques Le Même discovered Megève in 1925, at the same time as Baroness Noémie de Rothschild made him realize his first chalet, inaugurating a new architectural style inspired by Le Corbusier. Pure volumetry, lack of basement, double roof, large balcony to the south and reinforced concrete now mark the slopes. In 1989, Les Sibuet created Les Fermes de Marie, a brand new hotel concept set up in former high altitude farms. The wellness area, precursor of future high-altitude spas, becomes the signature of the family that develops Pure Altitude, a range of mountain-based skincare products.

The resort will host La Folie Douce from December 20, and is preparing to receive a Four Seasons hotel in 2016. The chalets compete with superlatives and the talent of Olivier Chetail, an antique dealer who has become an inescapable decorator, is no stranger to it. The taste of the authentic is also natural in this agricultural village which still has 45 active farms from which are produced quality local products. Craftsmanship 100% made in Megève that can be found at the table of great chefs, such as the Fontainebleau de la Laiterie Gaiddon, yogurts from the Ferme de Joseph or cheeses from the Val d'Arly Cooperative. Julien Gatillon for Le 1920, the Domaine du Mont d'Arbois restaurant, and Christophe Schuffenecker from La Table de l'Alpaga have just won their first star. They may one day join the firmament of Emmanuel Renaut, whose Flocons de Sel is one of the jewels of Megève.
