Training to follow to be an interior designer
The interior designer can also be called space designer. Indeed, the main mission of the latter is the design and development of spaces. In addition to creative good sense, the interior designer must be a good technician and must be able to meet normative requirements and technical and budgetary constraints. The interior designer must know how to propose his project by drawing it on paper and in 3D by mastering software such as autoCAD, archiCAD or 3DSmax. In a second step, the interior designer takes on a role of project manager and ensures the follow-up of the works.
Where to train?
The job of interior designer requires a Master's degree. The CFAI (French Council of Interior Architects) recognizes 15 institutions, 5 of which are public institutions, offering free training (Ecole Boulle, ENSAAMA, ENSAD, ISDAT and TALM).
The Boulle School:
- A BTS post Bac option Design space that allows to form future "assistant designers" (Training 2 years).
- A DSAA (Higher Diploma of Applied Arts) to practice the profession of interior designer. (2 years training).
Registration to the DSAA is possible for titular students:
- a BTS applied arts (in particular DCEV, DE, DP),
- a Diploma of Crafts of Art (DMA),
- a National Diploma of Arts and Techniques (DNAT) prepared in the Schools of Fine Arts
The Camondo School:
Access to the Camondo School is through an entrance examination. For this, the future student must hold a bachelor's degree (all series). Exemptions are possible on the basis of significant professional experience.
The entrance examination consists of a written test and an oral test. The Camondo School offers a 5 year training program. The annual tuition fee is 7,565 euros.

Training to follow to be an interior designer
The function of interior decorator does not imply to restructure the space. Its main mission is to decorate a place and give it its own style (advice or choice of paintings, furniture, curtains etc). He masters the possible combinations of colors and textures and offers them to his client. He is also a professional in the art of listening who will understand your desires and guide you in the vast world of decorative products.

EDAA: School of Design and Applied Arts:
EDDA offers a distance learning program to the interior design profession that lasts between 10 and 12 months. The duration depends on the rhythm of each student and the progress of its practical work, which allows a maximum of flexibility when the agendas are already well filled. This training is accessible with a 3rd level.

E-learning activities, "know-how" videos and DVD tutorials will enable the student to acquire all the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the job of interior decorator. La Fabrique is the new school of the CCI Paris IDF. "The opening of La Fabrique concretizes the project to create a unique school entirely dedicated to the fashion and decoration trades."
La Fabrique offers a program to become a Bac + 2 Merchandiser Decorator. The diploma issued is recognized by the State. To register, you must be under 26 years of age and hold a bachelor's degree or have significant work experience. The annual price of the training is 5500 euros.
