While the new La Cornue showroom has just opened its doors, its president Xavier Dupuy unveils the latest model of the kitchen of the house: "La Cornue W.", designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte.

Architect, decorator, craftsmen, all were activated within hours of the inauguration of the new La Cornue showroom. The maker of stoves has indeed left the rue Mabillon to triple its surface rue de Bourgogne, a stone's throw from L'Arpege, the restaurant of Michelin-starred chef Alain Passard, godfather of the opening night of the showroom. "He is a friend of thirty and he has a La Cornue at home," says Xavier Dupuy. The president of La Cornue recognizes, moreover, that his company needed space "to express itself". That is to say promote the new wall oven of the house. But also present the Culinary Domain, "a global solution for individuals who want a kitchen where you can produce for the family, or to receive in number". Here, in the cooking zone, which consists of a vaulted oven, a worktop and a roasting pan, are added high-quality furniture, hyperfunctional fittings, a refrigerator and a wine cellar. Four years of reflection

"Until today, we had to design our stoves for my father, and I wanted to project La Cornue into a more contemporary design," explains Xavier Dupuy. Hence the partnership with Jean-Michel Wilmotte. "We met at a lunch at the Relais d'Auteuil". The current has passed. And this especially as the Wilmotte agency has often prescribed La Cornue stoves. The fact remains that it took four years before the project of a W. designer cook was born. "We needed a lot of development time, because the architecture and the technique of the W. line are very far from what we usually do," explains Xavier Dupuy.

A classic future

The result ? A "reinterpretation of the fundamentals of La Cornue", summarizes the gourmet Jean-Michel Wilmotte. In other words: certainly, we find the joysticks on the front and the traditional bar towel, but "the lines are pure and clear construction". "We have created a classic future, borrowing from the vocabulary of Jean-Michel Wilmotte, namely the use of glass, cast aluminum and the choice of induction technology", Xavier Dupuy continues. "The Cornue W." is a unique model, black, with a width of 150 cm. It does not decline. "We will sell in another ten years," he bets again. Moreover, he does not intend to stop at this experience. "Another project is already under way, but it's still too early to unveil it." It will wait until the end of 2013.
