A guest house decor in Brittany

Jean-Marc Palisse

Guided tour of the Manoir des Eperviers in Brittany, old building of the eighteenth century renovated to the taste of the day and transformed into a guest house. The stone walls, the trendy decor and the indoor pool will make you want to pack!

In Quéven, not far from Lorient, Véronique Sparfel exchanged her Nantes pharmacy to enthusiastically embark on the bed and breakfast adventure. The former estate, bought in 2000, now offers 350 m2 of living space. "I always had this project in mind!" confesses timidly Veronique. Although the decor - warm - looks nothing like the Birds of Hitchcock, the property owes its name to that of its owners, Sparfel, which means "Sparrowhawks" in Breton. An echo to the Sparrowhawks, family boats, and their classes like Shark, Dragon, Optimist, Soling or Melges 24, names given to the three rooms and two suites.

Outside and inside, the pool plays with the exposed stone walls

Exposed stones, raw wood recovered from the old barn, solar panels on the roof of the pool ... So many respect for the environment that rhyme beautifully with the attentions that Véronique reserves for its guests. Thus, at dawn, the mistress of the place shares in all conviviality her hot pancakes with her Russian, Chinese or Dutch tourists. All are unanimous ... And you, what are you doing this summer?
