NT1 / TF1

When he leaves the studios of TF1 and the "glamor" of the evenings people, Christophe Beaugrand lives in a house in the woods. It took him eight years to renovate an old ranger house. Bucolic getaway for a visit incognito.

Since Saturday, February 6, 2016, Christophe Beaugrand is back in "50 mn Inside" with a novelty! He takes us aboard his "people mobile", a traveling studio that allows him to move in the heart of the capital to go on concerts, backstage, vernissages or even people nights.

This time, he drove west to Paris to show us the way to his secret den, guarded by his dog Colby and his two cats Balzac and Poppi: his house in the woods. Because it was good that way he had first spotted until he recognized a picture on an ad! Totally wooded, the area is protected because not constructible. Christophe does not live in a bear but almost, since he has for other neighbors only squirrels and deer ... except when he receives! Because it is a house to party where you can listen to music very loud.

Nature lover, he looks forward to the return of spring so that the bare trees find their attractions and nature takes over.

Did you have a lot of work to do?

Christophe Beaugrand: The base of this milling house is barely recognizable because the previous owner had already enlarged it to give it a contemporary look. It is therefore less the charm of the construction that its potential of development and the environment which seduced me. There was a lot of work, some of which I was able to do, and I also used craftsmen and the advice of an architect. For example, I removed all the frisette that gave it a cottage side ... It took to do the earthworks, openings to install windows, paint. In short, the house has truly transformed over the years and continues to evolve because I am passionate about decor and gardening. A house is exhausting and exciting because it changes constantly and it's never over!

Your favorite room where you like to be and spend time?

Christophe Beaugrand: Being in the living room with the fireplace. It's my cocoon. I like being on my couch with my cats, the TV and the library next door. And then, I appreciate the view of the trees, it helps me.

Your furniture: rather modern, ultra design, family, pitcher?

Christophe Beaugrand: It's a mix of all of this. I like to look for "old things" in flea markets that I mix with elements from "Maison du Monde" or "Alinéa". As the decor is an eternal start and it fascinates me, I also tend to accumulate: over the years, my office has become an attic. It is upstairs, this is where I installed my collections of comics classified by alphabetical order and my old CD columns, rows like the FNAC, a French variety side and the other the world music !

The most unusual or unexpected that can be discovered at home?

Christophe Beaugrand: The corner fireplace with the library is the first thing you see when you enter. It's an important part of the show.

An object or piece of furniture that you could not separate?

Christophe Beaugrand: An old armchair that belonged to my deceased father, and that he had in his teenage room. He followed all my moves. For a long time, I had the ripped version! Since then, I had it refurbished by an upholsterer in a beautiful gray fabric and very soft. It's a piece that counts a lot.

Your favorite color in your home?

Christophe Beaugrand : Wood, gray and red. There is the warm side of the wood with the very dark exotic parquet of the living room; on the walls a painting in shades of camel; some touches of red in the decor with an armchair and shelves; and the metal beams that were hidden under the false ceiling, which I repainted in an industrial gray ...

Your last purchase - useful or futile! - for the House ?

Christophe Beaugrand: I searched in vain for a long time a very large table for the stay. So, I ordered a tailor-made for a reasonable price in a shop in the 20th arrondissement: "La Parquetterie Nouvelle". It was made from old SNCF wagon bottoms and the legs are made of brushed metal.

The kitchen, rather open or closed?

Christophe Beaugrand: Even though open kitchens are in fashion, I preferred to have a closed kitchen. I love cooking and I wanted space, but most of all I can not stand the smell! It is a large functional room with a red splashback and a quartz worktop.

A dish unexpectedly on the go for your friends? Your specialty?

Christophe Beaugrand : A duck breast recipe with mangos and curry with hash browns ... I also like making cakes.

And the TV, which room?

Christophe Beaugrand: In the living room and the bedroom! Before it was part of my job, TV was always in my life. I'm a fan of Koh-Lanta and I'm looking forward to a little TV party at home.

Do you live with music or rather in silence?

Christophe Beaugrand: There is always a lot of music, mainly electro and French variety, sometimes a lounge atmosphere for moments of relaxation. And when I'm alone, I listen and sing French songs!

Rather candle or rather perfume of atmosphere?

Christophe Beaugrand : I need a Zen atmosphere. I like to burn a lot of candles or incense sticks, more rarely perfumes because most are too chemical.

Curtains, doors, shutters? What does it inspire you?

Christophe Beaugrand: A friend architect helped me to redo the facade. He had the idea of custom made wood shutters made by a cabinetmaker from the Chevreuse Valley, they open from left to right on rails. A little like louvers, they let go oe cm of day.

What is on your bedside table?

Christophe Beaugrand: There is always the remote control TV, my phone and a book! I like politics: at the moment, I read "L'Elysée, behind the scenes and secrets of a palace" by Patrice Duhamel. These are all the little secrets of politics with a lot of anecdotes. It is exciting and there is even at the beginning of the book a map of the Elysée to understand the distribution of salons, etc.

Where do you store your books?

Christophe Beaugrand: Next to the fireplace, there is a large library where I like the books to be tidy. There is a nice collection of Charlie Hebdo's annals with the best ones. I was a fan of Charlie and I take the utmost care.

A deco trick or storage?

Christophe Beaugrand: Custom shutters that I made by my architect. They are part of the facade as a decorative element.

Do you dream of one more room? If so, for what purpose?

Christophe Beaugrand: If I had a magic wand, I would like to transport my house to have both the forest and the ocean views. The location of my dreams: the Pyla dune.

Rather orderly or messy?

Christophe Beaugrand: Maniacal ! I am rather orderly but there are always small things hanging around here and there.

Are you green plants, flowers, balcony, terrace, garden?

Christophe Beaugrand: I could have bought Truffaut last year! I love to plant and saw the location of the house in the forest, the land is nurturing! This vegetation is essential to rejuvenate me. It's almost like being in the South because I even managed to plant an olive tree and palm trees: in the summer we come back, we go out, the terrace is an integral part of the house. One of my cats, the wildest, Balzac spends his time in the forest: he's having fun! It is in a secret pantry next to the terrace, that he lays his trophies, his mice!
