Jean-Marc Sureau - TF1
Your favorite room where you like to be and spend time?
Evelyne Dheliat: I love spending time in the living room and also in the kitchen, where I have lunch and dinner with my family.
Your furniture: rather modern, ultra design, family, pitcher?
Evelyne Dheliat: Not too much family furniture, let's say it's a pretty indefinable mix and absolutely not classic. I like well made furniture that has personality. In the living room there are modern sofas, a small dresser from the 40s, surely coming from the south. I found remarkable pieces in the provinces at auctions. Sometimes you have to patch and clean them, but you have to keep their patina. My apartment is warm, it feels good, say my friends.
The most unusual or unexpected that can be discovered at home?
Evelyne Dheliat: It is a small bar of the 40s for which I had a real love at first sight: it is painted wood. We love or hate.
An object or piece of furniture that you could not separate?
Evelyne Dheliat: Impossible ! All my furniture and objects have a story, a life, a soul. But if I really had to pick one, it would be an ice cream parlor of the 30s-40s, for its sentimental value. She belonged to my grandparents, in our family home in Bordeaux.
Your favorite color in your home?
Evelyne Dheliat: Beige is the dominant color of the walls of the living room, it is a patina that dates back ten years. In each piece, I made mixes to obtain colors a little rare: taupe, leather ...
Your last purchase - useful or futile! - for the House ?
Evelyne Dheliat: A smoke detector ... I installed it in the hallway, between the bedroom and the living room.
The kitchen, rather open or closed?
Evelyne Dheliat: Closed, I hate the odors that spread. I am lucky to have a large window with a clear view, sunny south. It's happiness! The kitchen is very pleasant to live. Rational and rather tidy, she has a table that works plan. Everything is in its place.
A dish unexpectedly on the go for your friends?
Evelyne Dheliat: I'm doing my market on Saturdays. If I have to receive an unexpected Friday, the fridge is empty, it will be a pasta dish. If it's a Sunday, I'll cook a steamed fish with a salad.
And the TV, which room?
Evelyne Dheliat: There is one in every room: a little in the kitchen that works a lot, in the rooms, and one in the living room, although I resisted a long time!
Do you live with music or rather in silence?
Evelyne Dheliat: I do not know how to work in music, it deconcentrates me. But when I relax, I listen to everything: the classic, and even the 33 turns on an old platinum. While rummaging through the flea markets, I found albums that are small treasures ... I just bought a double cover of the Beatles.
Rather candle or rather perfume of atmosphere?
Evelyne Dheliat: I'm suspicious of it I do not like being trapped by certain smells. But when I get friends, to create an atmosphere during an aperitif, a dinner, I proceed to the ritual of candles.
Curtains, doors, shutters? What does it inspire you?
Evelyne Dheliat: For the curtains, I will say: boat blinds. And for doors: door knobs! A few years ago, I found beautiful handles and copies of old door knobs. As for the shutters, they remind me of the summer by big dodger: the house is cool and the shutters let in a stream of light.
What is on your bedside table?
Evelyne Dheliat: My morning alarm clock, a glass of water. The books I read, the press of the day with a pencil to highlight articles that interest me.
A deco trick or storage?
Evelyne Dheliat: Double curtains all made: very practical!
And the books?
Evelyne Dheliat: They are arranged by genre in a large library and there are also maps of my travels, my dictionaries. I am a conservative! I kept my books of high school - the Lagarde and Michard, the little classics Larousse -, all the Agatha Christie. There are cookbooks, art books and novels; lack of space, I had to put in a closet!
Do you dream of one more room? If so, for what purpose?
Evelyne Dheliat: A small gym with a bike, a rowing machine and some weight machines.
Are you green plants, flowers, balcony, terrace, garden?
Evelyne Dheliat: I have a green hand! I am the only one of my building to have flowered garden planters side yard! In the kitchen, I installed a railing to plant thyme, lavender and even cyclamen. I have orchids some of which have a decade that bloom again all the time, and even a nursery to "heal" those of my girlfriends. This is a very specific place in the house called "my little garden". I just made a hoof of Venus bloom again with two beautiful flowers!
Your addresses or favorite brands for the home (shopping, decoration, florist, etc.)?
Evelyne Dheliat: It's over the wind. I do not have addresses of predilection because I only buy by favorites in flea markets and auction rooms. I favor objects that have character. My pleasure is to find an object that I like and is a reasonable cost. My rule: have the flash to the second!
