What seduced you in this apartment?
Elsa Fayer: I am the real estate agent's nightmare! I need to have the crush and I try to maximize the potential of a place. In this apartment, I liked the old moldings and the volume of the living room.
Even if it was in a bad state, it had precisely the charm of the old: I had the impression to travel in time. I also appreciate the magical side of the before-after. I never had the courage to engage in pharaonic work but only refreshment.
Vyour favorite room where you like to be and spend time?
Elsa Fayer: My room because I need to recharge my batteries. This room is a relaxing cocoon where I feel peaceful. And on weekends, this is where the family meets for breakfast in bed ... with crumbs on the comforter! The whole is harmonious and zen in soft colors - tones of beige and white: I did not throw myself into paintings, the moldings are white.
I added a touch of vintage blue drawing towards the green of water, here and there by objects, in particular a small ceramic stool. There are also some paintings and pictures, a beige armchair on which I put my things and black Wenge wood to create a black and white contrast.
Your furniture: rather modern, ultra design, family, pitcher?
Elsa Fayer: It's a mix of several styles! There is a Berber carpet, armchairs and a super comfortable duck velvet sofa. I like the Berber style or even the graphics of American carpets. My passion is to hunt in Drouot or the Puces de Saint-Ouen.
"I like the graphics of American rugs."
In my family, I had great bargain hunters who transmitted their virus to me: I buy most often objects that are useless but they are traces of the past. Besides the apartment is more crowded with objects than furniture ... but I always try to find a nice place for them to stay with me.

The most unusual or unexpected that can be discovered at home?
Elsa Fayer: We enter directly into the living room where there is a high ceiling with old moldings. It's actually what seduced me; suddenly, this space is so beautiful that we hesitate to put too much furniture!
An object or piece of furniture that you could not separate?
Elsa Fayer: The object that followed me is a small chair that I've had for 15 years, flea market. It dates from the Napoleonic era. The leather is damaged but I love his look. I put on the seat pretty cushions to give it a new life.
"Small armchair of the Napoleonic era, mottled 15 years ago at the flea market."
I have some holiday memories like this fossilized wood brought back from Bali, which is placed on the mantelpiece: it looks like a marble sculpture. The material is incredible.

Your favorite color in your home?
Elsa Fayer: Unlike my previous apartments, I did not create color effects, everything is in shades of white and beige. But I attach great importance to the small details and the choice of colors that must be answered ...
Your last purchase - useful or futile! - for the House ?
Elsa Fayer: I made a totally impulsive purchase because of this episode of pollution. I had headaches and the children were coughing, so I bought the Dyson air blower. It's only been a few days since I installed it. Discreet and design, the device is in the living room and I also move it in the children's room. It gives me a good conscience. I feel like I'm doing good for my family! I do not have a hand on the climate, but at least in my apartment we breathe, in principle, an unpolluted air.
The kitchen, rather open or closed?
Elsa Fayer: It is a real place of life. Closed and rectangular, it is the only modern piece, all in white lacquer and wood. I was inspired by deco magazines. I'm proud because it does its little effect. It's a nice space that was easy to arrange from items I found at Ikea. As I do not want to be overwhelmed with objects and just go out the appliances I need, nothing lags: there are plenty of closets everywhere.
In the kitchen: "a large 8 cm thick worktop with feet that makes a long dining table."
When a kitchen is too busy, we do not see anything! We dine there every night with family. I bought a large 8 cm thick worktop with feet that made a long dining table and around, I put high chairs.
A dish unexpectedly on the go for your friends? Your specialty?
Elsa Fayer: Unexpectedly, I always have good cheese, bread and wine but when I invite, I take pleasure in preparing a beautiful table. I do not hesitate to buy small utensils and decorative accessories at Casa: I like to surprise the people I love. I never make the same recipe because my pleasure is to innovate!
Do you live with music or rather in silence?
Elsa Fayer: In silence in the room which is the room where I read my mails and reads. However, there is always a TV background in the living room with the info. As for music, it's personal. With a large family - I have a 17-year-old teenager and two younger kids who listen to their music on their tablet - I do not impose my musical tastes! It's only when I'm driving my car that I listen to my music and sing loudly.
And the TV, which room?
Elsa Fayer: I usually hear my friends say "your living room is vintage like your TV". Even if it is not recent, it works perfectly! That of the living room is almost always on: the screen is placed on a low furniture in front of the big soft sofa where there is always a good cover: it is our television monitoring station! Because TV is more than a job, it's a passion.
Rather candle or rather perfume of atmosphere?
Elsa Fayer: A house must be warm and feel good. I am very sensitive to odors. I had a perfume diffuser: it relaxed me and had a beneficial effect on the morale. My favorite candle is the 34 collection from Diptyque: a fresh and delicate fragrance.
"My favorite candle is the 34 from Diptyque."
Curtains, doors, shutters? What does it inspire you?
Elsa Fayer: Curtains, I installed only in my room. In a silky fabric with stripes, black and beige ecru, they are fairly classic with two very fragile embraces: they are two ostrich eggs with black fringes. I love the emptiness inside these big clear eggs. Absolute prohibition for children to open or close them!
Details in the living room: the ostrich egg of the embrace with black fringes.
What is on your bedside table?
Elsa Fayer: Indispensable: a golden metal box for Kleenex! It serves me for everything: for children, when I have a cold, when I cry in front of a movie ... I have of course my favorite books that I read, including I have the big book of dreams. Because I like to wake up and understand their meaning: it's an introduction before starting the day.
Elsa Fayer: In each room there is a mini-library. In the old apartment, I had a large library in the entrance but the configuration of it did not allow it. So, she is in an office: it's less fun because my books are locked but I did not say my last word and maybe it will be necessary that I have to move furniture! With me, it's spring every month!
A deco trick or storage?
Elsa Fayer: As the accumulation is one of my faults, I installed many tablets so that each object has a place. Another classic storage tip, I condemned a door that separated the living room from my room: I put a library to store photos.
Finally, my main tip is to find small objects at low cost and that will make their effect, by inspiring me decorating magazines. I will rarely buy a dear object from a decorator!
Do you dream of one more room? If so, for what purpose?
Elsa Fayer: I danced a lot: so my dream would be to have a beautiful dance hall with bars, a beautiful floor and a great sound system.
Rather orderly or messy?
Elsa Fayer: Orderly and a little manic. When a house is not tidy, we do not see it anymore and we do not feel good. It's a question of harmony and respect for others, especially when you have a large family: I like everything in its place and especially to highlight the objects.
Are you green plants, flowers, balcony, terrace, garden?
Elsa Fayer: On my balcony in front of my room, I have an olive tree, a tree that I love for its history and its resistance. He is always reborn and is content with a few drops of rain. And in front of the windows of the living room, I installed boxwood in very high pots, I like their roundness and their graphic side.
In the kitchen, I planted aromatic plants: basil, mint ... It makes me want to cook. Indoors despite the advice I received, I have trouble keeping the plants. I have some small bouquets and especially everlasting roses in a cup: I like the idea that they go through time.
Your addresses or favorite brands for the home (shopping, decoration, florist, etc.)?
• When the decoration is not expensive, it allows to renew it. That's why, I like the Ikea and Casa signs;
• The Westwing.fr site which by its thematic and eclectic classification gives lots of ideas and also the site Made.com on which I always find pretty things;
• AM.PM. de la Redoute remains a safe bet with quality furniture;
• Unconditional mate, I like to go to the flea market of Saint-Ouen and sales of Drouot. I always bring back small memories of my travels even if sometimes they find themselves in the cellar!
