Bruno Solo

Bruno Solo and his wife Véronique wanted a friendly, simple and functional house. With the help of a Brazilian interior designer, they managed to create an atmosphere in their image, authentic and warm. The most important space is the large living room overlooking a garden. Upstairs is the night and the last level, a gym with a large terrace with panoramic views of La Défense and Paris. Interview…

Your favorite room where you like to be and spend time?

Bruno Solo: The living room. It is a large living room overlooking the garden. I had an immense library built by an art carpenter. It was very complex to realize because there was the roundness of the wall to take into account. This library occupies a whole part of the wall in the entrance, between the kitchen and the living room. Books are essential in my life: I have nearly 2,500 of them, including comics. They are arranged in alphabetical order - the thematic classification is too complicated - but since my children start reading - which I can only rejoice - it's a bit of a mess!

The custom-made bookcase extends from floor to ceiling for maximum storage.

Your furniture: rather modern, ultra design, family, pitcher?

Bruno Solo: It is a motley mixture between the jug and the find. Our house is alive with paintings, posters, books, smells ... I like the mix of genres. As the house is large, I have kept much of the furniture of my many moves between Paris and Brussels ... There is not a single style, clean and design as in magazines. Our choice was to have a welcoming home in our image.

The most unusual or unexpected that can be discovered at home?

Bruno Solo: The top piece made of brick and glass. It looks like an observatory: there is a beautiful light and a panoramic view of Paris. La Defense towers look like New York skyline! I feel calm to repeat the texts of my plays. It is also the ideal place to take the height ...

An object or piece of furniture that you could not separate?

Bruno Solo: Two small nightclubs dilapidated, 17th atmosphere, bought in Brussels in the district of Marolles, Place du Jeu de Balles. This is the corner of fleas and junk shops, the place where Tintin discovers the little frigate, scene very well filmed by Spielberg in "The secret of the Unicorn". These bedside tables are in our room which has been furnished in a Thai style, with a large teak bed. This makes them very anachronistic. I love them, my wife hates them!

Your favorite color in your home?

Bruno Solo: Tobacco and brown. There is also a lot of lime paint that gives a warm color in ochres. We love wood and brick. On the floor, there is waxed concrete and parquet with wide slats of raw wood.

Beautiful volumes for the living space of the house of Bruno Solo.

Your last favorite purchase for the house?

Bruno Solo: I am more interested in paintings than deco objects. On the wall, I have paintings by contemporary artists, old posters ... a reproduction of the Delft View of Vermeer, one of my favorite painters, which directed by Jean-Noël Brouté. I played with him in La Station Champbaudet. This boy is a talented copyist.

The living room is Bruno Solo's favorite piece.

Bruno Solo

The kitchen, rather open or closed?

Bruno Solo: The kitchen is large and completely open to the living room and the library. This is the room we come in because, for practical reasons, not many people go through the entrance.

Bruno Solo chose red for his cuisine.

Bruno Solo

A dish unexpectedly on the go for your friends?

Bruno Solo: The kitchen is not my domain and I am a poor cook. On the other hand, my wife is a very good cook. So when she is shooting, I provide the base for the children by preparing pasta. I watch the cooking for 20 minutes and they are always al dente!

And the TV, which room?

Bruno Solo: There is a flat screen in the living room, above the fireplace, and we have a TV in our room that we only watch for DVDs ... I never even opened the small screen that I installed in the upper room.

The living room and dining room of Bruno Solo are one to form a beautiful living room, family and warm.

Bruno Solo

Do you live with music or rather in silence?

Bruno Solo : In music but with different tastes. Véronique listens to Nova and our 9- and 14-year-olds singers of their generation. As for me, I am rather classical music at home and rock, by car.

Are you rather candle or rather scent of atmosphere?

Bruno Solo: In general, it smells like candles from Diptik, and in winter, the fire. I like smells a little woody, those of autumn, fresh grass ... I'm less sensitive to vanilla or fruity scents. From time to time incense is also burned; my wife brought back some awesome incense from a trip to India, with rosewood fragrances. We find in Paris, passage Brady.

What is on your bedside table?

A reader, books, magazines and wherever I am, I always have a pen and paper. I read several books at once. At the moment, there is on my night table " The sermon of the fall of Rome "Jérôme Ferrari, the winner of Goncourt 2012 and" Bonaparte "Patrice Gueniffey The character Bonaparte fascinates me because it is the reverse path of Hugo who has become a huge humanist and progressive.I also read all the biographies of Stéphane Zweig, a writer I love. to read Daniel Pennac's "The Diary of a Body" and " Towards sweetness "François Begaudeau.

Do you dream of one more room? If so, for what purpose?

Bruno Solo: A second guest room. In dream, I would like to have a bowling alley!

Rather orderly or messy?

Bruno Solo: Very orderly. My wife and kids are messy but that's never the shambles. As I can not work in the brothel, my function at home is to tidy up! Fortunately, they are respectful of my maniaquerie and my tocs; and I'm flexible because the house lends itself well to that.

Are you green plants, flowers, balcony, terrace, garden?

Bruno Solo: I love the idea of having a garden but I do not have a green thumb. That's why I wanted him to look wild. In winter, it is protected and lives well because the birches resist everything; there are also bamboos, eucalyptus, lawn, rosebushes ... There is a soothing for children and their friends, they love it; I like to hear them laugh when they jump! Even me, I happen to make some!

Your addresses or favorite brands for the home?

Bruno Solo: Sometimes we have sore reactions and go once a year to Conran Shop; I must admit that they have the sense of design for certain objects ... But I do not have favorite addresses: it is more to the liking of our walks and our trips that I can crack. I am not an edgy shopping and decor. We initially set what we liked: it is timeless and we like it!
