An expert gives you valuable plumbing advice in the event of slamming in the faucet. A very common situation that can be solved without necessarily using a plumber.

It makes noise and it trembles? This is the famous shot of the ram. It is due to too great a speed of circulation of the water in the pipe and to the difference of pressure when one closes the tap. In the worst case, this phenomenon can cause breaks in pipes. The solution ? Decrease the pressure on the water meter (by turning the dedicated tap).

If this does not work, first put a device "post baffle" before the valve concerned: it has a membrane, or a piston, which moves at the slightest pressure variations and water hammers.

If it still does not work, place the big means: we increase the diameter of the pipes, avoiding elbows short radius. Sometimes the trepidations make the installation tremble. They can come from worn out discs of used valve heads. Then you have to change them. In this case, it is better to choose ceramic disc heads that are more resistant to wear, more accurate and more comfortable than flapper heads. Indeed, they open and close in a quarter of a turn or a half-turn only.
